What was your biggest struggle when you started and how did you overcome it?
Independently and together, our biggest struggle was communicating the value of an interior design service as freelancers. People wanted the service but did not understand the cost associated, the work involved, nor the value of ones intellectual property. Our first experiences left us doing a lot of work for little pay, however we gained a world of knowledge and experience, honing us into better designers and businesses women.
What is your signature service or attribute that set you a part in your market?
Bold statements with the clients’ style and sensibility in mind. Clients often come to us when they feel like their homes are cookie-cutter or feel staged. We take the time to get to know our clients, so that our designs are imbued with personality.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
We love the absence of monotony in our day to day. We are constantly stimulated creatively by each project and each client relationship.
What are your 3 must have business automation or workflow tools?
Google Drive – Document Management
Trello – Project Management
Honeybook – Accounting
What is your favorite business book that you have read in the past year?
Tavia Forbes – The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*uck by Mark Manson
Monet Masters – The Psychology of Selling by Brian Tracy
What do you wish you would have known when you started your business?
That it never gets easier. You simply trade problems for more problems. But owning your own business means that they are the problems you choose and the ones you love solving. Solving problems give us purpose and thus we must remain optimistic through every challenge.
